How long does it take for laceration stitches to disolve?

I had a baby 4 weeks ago and had a 2nd degree laceration. Now, after 4 weeks my laceration stitches are still there even though I was told by a nurse they should disolve in 2-3 weeks. Is it normal? How long did it take for your stitches to disolve?
