Should I ask out my best girl friend?

I am a 13 yr old boy. She is the same age almost exactly(same birthday). We are very compatible she makes me laugh I make her laugh. She is the coolest girl I have ever met and she is my best friend. If I ask her out Im afraid that it might be awkward for her because we are best friends. Followup question: how do I make it not feel awkward for er when I ask her out?
