Why do people always blame the media for their problems?

In the 1950's people blamed Elvis, and comic books like tales from the crypt, for society's problems in the 1960's and 1970's it was The beetles, in the 1980's it was so called rock. In the 1990's people blamed video games, and TV shows like Beavis and head. Now in the 2000's people are blaming the internet. How come no one looks at the family? Why is it ALWAYS the fault of the media that people do bad things? And how did the Media cause violence and other crimes before Radio, and TV were invented?
