You can pry the top off but it will bend it and you won't be able to put it back on. Instead, take the roll into a camera store or a photo lab. They will be able to get the film leader back out with a tool. Then you can pull the film out all the way. Cut it off leaving an inch or two to tape the your good film leader to.
